TYLER BOATRIGHT

PROFESSIONAL PORTFOLIO

01 about

About

Hi there! My name is Tyler Boatright, I'm a recently credentialed Registered Dietitian living in Portland, Oregon and looking to pursue a career as a Clinical Dietitian and continue to explore my interest in nutrition informatics/technology.

I completed my Dietetic Internship at the University of Maryland, where I discovered a sincere passion for educating and advocating for patients, collaborating with a team of talented healthcare professionals, and working within the Nutrition Care Process framework. After that discovery, I did everything I could to get as much clinical exposure as possible, maximizing my clinical rotation at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, Maryland, choosing to do an elective rotation with the Trauma RDs at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland, and a pediatric rotation at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Throughout these rotations, I've built a strong clinical foundation that I'm eager to continue expanding.

Throughout my previously-mentioned clinical rotations, I've also realized that many Electronic Health Record programs don't work the way Dietitians need them to. Searching through different tabs and pages for a single piece of information can turn a task that was supposed to be quick, easy, and accurate, into an inefficient, error-prone, time-sink. One of my long-term career goals is to help make EHR programs more RD-friendly, so we have more time to provide valuable nutrition education and interventions.

Outside of my professional life, I’m passionate about nutrition, health, fitness, and wellness. I'm a native Oregonian, attended Oregon State University, and am happy to be back in the northwest, but I also really enjoyed my time exploring D.C. and Maryland. In my free time, I like to work out, go camping, hike, spend time with family, and watch OSU sports (Go Beavs!).
